Renata Goldup

At times life can be unexpected. You may find that you have lost connection with others, you argue more, or have less time and not as much in common with people you used to shared interests with. Perhaps you have lost trust in someone you have had a close relationship with, you feel hurt, betrayed or you just don’t know what to do. Experiences like this can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be and you don’t have to face these alone.

As a Counsellor and Psychotherapist my priority is to provide you with a supportive, safe and confidential space so you feel comfortable to talk about things that are on your mind.  Working  alongside you, we can find ways to understand and address any difficult  issues you may be  dealing with. This includes exploring solutions in response to your specific and immediate concerns, as well as supporting you in gaining a deeper understanding of yourself and others around you enabling you to move forward and work towards your desired change.

I run a private practice based in Guildford. Trained and Masters qualified as a Counsellor/Psychotherapist, I have been working in a therapeutic setting with individuals, couples and families for the last 10 years.

I also have experience in the areas of adoption, working with victims of sexual abuse, mediation within the workplace, as well as with adults and children with disabilities and their carers.

My main therapeutic modalities include Psychodynamic and Systemic but I also draw from many other models, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis and Expressive Therapies.

How I work is based on focusing on helping individuals, couples and families to unravel and understand their deep-rooted feelings. This will help us to find ways to move forward within a supportive environment. I work alongside you to explore your thoughts, feelings, values and beliefs and how these link to your past but also the choices you make in the present.

We will explore interactions between people, how you communicate and what influence the choices you make have on the relationships around you. This can be an effective approach especially  when someone experiences relationship difficulties and distress. Also, through self reflection we will look at alternative solutions to find new ways to support you in the future.

I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist, registered and accredited as a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP).

Having completed both a Master Degree in Relationship Therapy, in addition to a Master Degree in Integrative Counselling and my undergraduate Bachelor study,  enables us to draw on many frameworks and tailor our approach depending on your unique issues.

I also continuously undergo professional development through a broad range of training and courses, including: an intensive course in narrative practice; a graduate certificate in Expressive Therapies for adults and children; and, mediation and conflict resolution in the workplace.

Additional information

To contact me for a preliminary discussion please do not hesitate to call me on 07498 074 160.  In this call I will ask you to share a little about yourself and your reasons for considering counselling to help us to determine whether I am the best counsellor to support and work with you.

We can then arrange a convenient  time  for an initial consultation should you wish. This initial consultation would give us some time to explore what you hope to gain from our subsequent sessions and address any questions or concerns you may have.

Following this initial consultation, there is no obligation for you to continue with any additional sessions, the decision will be yours to make.

Should you wish to proceed, we will then begin to meet on a weekly basis.
